Newgate University Minna celebrated a landmark occasion with the commissioning of three new facilities, underscoring the institution’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities. The ceremony featured the inauguration of the General Abdulsalami Abubakar Informatics and Innovation Complex, the Engr. Abdulkadir Kure Multipurpose Auditorium, and the Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu Library Complex.

The event brought together Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sadiq Yusuf, Pro-Chancellor Hassan Nuhu, state officials, and distinguished guests. Prof. Sadiq Yusuf expressed pride in the new projects, emphasizing their role in enhancing the university’s capacity to deliver quality education and vital resources to students. Pro-Chancellor Hassan Nuhu echoed this sentiment, viewing the new facilities as a testament to the university’s commitment to producing graduates prepared for state and national contributions.

In a notable announcement, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State pledged a N250 million endowment for Newgate University, supported by contributions from his family, the family of the late Engr. Abdulkadir Kure, and the Niger State Government. Governor Bago also revealed international scholarships for the university’s top 50 Medicine students, enabling them to study in countries like Canada, the Dominican Republic, China, and India. Additionally, he encouraged Newgate University to establish a Department of Agriculture to align with the state’s economic priorities.

The ceremony featured remarks from Former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar (represented by Alhaji Suleiman Jibril), Former Governor Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu (represented by Prof. Rukayya Rufai), and Senator Zainab Kure, representing the family of the late Engr. Abdulkadir Kure. Each expressed admiration for the university’s development and pledged ongoing support.
