Nexford University Honors Five Outstanding Nigerian Graduates at 2023 Ceremony

In a remarkable celebration of academic excellence and character, Nexford University (NXU), the innovative online institution based in Washington, D.C., honored five outstanding Nigerian students during its 2023 graduation event. The ceremony took place at the Landmark Event Centre on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Fadl Al Tarzi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NXU, expressed his pride in Nigerian learners during his address at the event. He commended their dedication to education and their outstanding achievements. Tarzi highlighted the exceptional accomplishments of the awardees and encouraged all graduates to make a significant impact on society, whether in Nigeria or beyond its borders.

The recipients of these prestigious awards included Daniel Oreofe, who received the "Outstanding Volunteer of the Year" accolade, and Sonter James, who was recognized as the "Outstanding Brand Ambassador." The highest honor of "Valedictorian of the Year" for the Class of 2023 was bestowed upon James Ogo-Oluwa Osinowo, who achieved a perfect 4.0 CGPA, along with 42 other Nigerian students out of the 622 graduates.

Sally Okogho, Nexford’s Community Development Manager, announced the impressive academic achievements of the Nigerian graduates, highlighting the distinction of their 4.0 CGPAs. Tarzi emphasized the resilience of Nigerian students and their commitment to education, noting that they often outshine their peers on a global scale.

Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, a former Minister of Education and a Board Member of NXU, praised academic institutions like Nexford for addressing human capital deficiencies in Nigeria. She acknowledged NXU's role in providing the skills necessary for the 21st century, emphasizing the need for inclusive prosperity in the country.

Tonye Cole, Co-founder and former Group Executive Director of Sahara Group, delivered the keynote address, urging the graduates to embrace challenges in their next life phase. Cole emphasized the importance of seeking wisdom to navigate the world and achieve their goals, highlighting the opportunities present in Nigeria's challenges.
