Niger State Governor Announces Free Tuition at AKUM

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has declared free tuition for 809 newly admitted students at Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna (AKUM), for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The governor also announced plans to allocate 2% of the state's total investment as an endowment for the university, build a housing estate for staff and lecturers, and introduce Medicine and Medical Sciences from the next academic session.

Governor Bago cancelled a previous decision to send students abroad on scholarship, opting to invest the funds in the university instead. He also promised a bursary of N100,000 for each student.

The Vice-Chancellor of AKUM, Prof. Mohammed Aliyu Paiko, congratulated the students and highlighted the institution's focus on equipping students with skills and innovative mindsets to become job creators.
