“No Student Left Behind”: Ramat Polytechnic Rector Pays JAMB Fees for 260 Remedial Students
In a powerful demonstration of leadership with a human face, the Management of Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri, under the able leadership of the Rector, Engr. Dr. Alhaji Bukar Abubakar, has officially settled the JAMB Registration fees for 260 Remedial students.
Recognizing the current economic hardship in the country, the Management moved to ensure that no student’s dream is cut short by financial lack. This proactive intervention ensures a seamless transition for these students into their National Diploma (ND) programs.
During a brief session, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Bukar, shared the inspiration behind this generous act:
"We noticed that some of our brightest students were at risk of stalling because of the financial burden of JAMB registration. We couldn't stand by and watch their dreams be cut short. This initiative is a proactive step to cushion the current economic hardship and ensure their transition to ND1 is seamless. We want to remove every bottleneck in their path."
He further stated: "You belong here, and we believe in you. This is an investment in your future. We want you to start your ND1 journey not with anxiety, but with the confidence that the institution is behind you. When students feel supported, they excel."
He also added: "We have a multi-faceted approach. Beyond this, our Students' Affairs Division offers counseling, and we facilitate access to various scholarship schemes. Our goal is an enabling environment where a lack of funds is not a permanent barrier to quality education."
The Beneficiaries Speak
The joy on campus was palpable as students reacted to the news. Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, some students said: "We feel so happy! Things are hard right now, and we were worried about the money. This is a huge help to our families; it’s like a heavy load has been lifted off our shoulders."
Others added: "Since the Rector believes in us this much, we are going to study day and night. We want to pass our JAMB with high marks to show that this investment was worth it!"
In a message to the Rector and the management team, a Class Representative stated: "A big 'Thank You' to our Rector. Sir, you have been like a father to us. May Allah continue to bless you and keep the school growing!"
