The Faculty of Education at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) recently honoured Professor Chiedu Felix Mafiana following his reappointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) for a second term.

The congratulatory visit took place at Prof. Mafiana’s office in Abuja on Thursday, December 11, 2025, and served as a reaffirmation of the faculty’s support for his leadership and confidence in his continued contribution to the university.

During the visit, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Bamikole Ogunleye, described Prof. Mafiana’s return as a major gain for NOUN, praising his exemplary track record and the achievements of his previous tenure. The faculty presented a commemorative gift as a symbol of honour and solidarity.

In his remarks, Prof. Mafiana expressed appreciation for the recognition, while highlighting key academic priorities, including the implementation of well-structured marking guides to ensure transparency in students’ results and addressing instances of lecturer misconduct. He emphasized the Faculty’s pivotal role in upholding discipline and setting standards within the university.

The delegation included departmental heads Professor Gabriel C. Job (Educational Foundations), Dr. Bala Waziri (Human Kinetics), Dr. Hakeem Olaniyi Liadi (Arts and Social Sciences Education), Dr. Ailakhu Ugonna Vivian (Library and Information Science), and Professor Ayodele (Education). Also present were Professor Sonnie J. Oniye of the School of Postgraduate Studies and the Chief Clerical Officer, Miss Oyintarela Abarugu.

The visit underscored the faculty’s commitment to partnering with university leadership to sustain academic excellence and reinforce the high standards of NOUN’s educational programs.
