NSUK VC Lauds Part-Time Students as Association Donates Security Kits and Learning Materials to Support Academic Growth

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Fellow UNESCO, ACLS, FIIFPN, has commended the leadership of the Part-Time Students’ Association for their proactive and forward-thinking contributions to the growth and development of the University.

Professor Liman gave the commendation on Friday, 22nd August 2025, when she received the Association’s executives led by their President, Comrade Halima Abdulmajid, at her office in the Senate Building. The students presented branded security apparels, face caps, whiteboards, and other classroom accessories to the University Management.

Expressing her appreciation, the Vice-Chancellor described the gesture as exemplary, stressing that it reflects the Association’s commitment to academic excellence and institutional progress. She assured them of the University’s continuous dedication to creating an enabling environment for students to excel in their chosen fields.

Professor Liman also praised the maturity of the part-time students, noting that unlike many groups, they have avoided protests and demonstrations. She reiterated the University’s policy banning “signing-out” celebrations during graduation ceremonies, urging students instead to remain disciplined, shun social vices, and uphold the values of peace and responsibility as true ambassadors of the NSUK community.

Earlier in her remarks, Comrade Abdulmajid congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on her recent conferment of an Honorary Fellowship by the Centre for Business and Economic Research (CBER), Oxford University, London. She explained that the donations were part of the Association’s corporate social responsibility, aimed at supporting the University’s efforts in strengthening security and enhancing teaching and learning conditions. She reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with the management to ensure that NSUK continues to stand tall among Nigerian universities.

In their separate remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation, and Linkages), Associate Professor K’tso Ngargbu, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Yahaya Muhammad, and the Chief Security Officer, Lt. Col. John Aboh (Rtd), praised the Vice-Chancellor’s visionary leadership. They also applauded the Association for its positive contributions toward the University’s progress and campus harmony.

The event concluded with the formal presentation of the donated items to the Vice-Chancellor, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
