NWU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amina Salihi Bayero Secures Strategic Interventions During Abuja Diplomatic Mission

Since Monday, 12 January 2026, the Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Kano (NWU), Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, has been engaged in a series of high-level official activities in Abuja aimed at strengthening institutional development and improving the welfare of the university community.

While in Abuja on official engagements, the Vice-Chancellor used the opportunity to visit key education and funding agencies, highlighting her commitment to repositioning Northwest University Kano for growth and excellence. She was accompanied by the Registrar, Dr. Adm. Isyaku Adamu; the Head of Administration, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mallam Abubakar Ado Gwaram; Engineer Muhammad Salisu, among others.

Professor Bayero led the delegation to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), where she was received by the Director, Executive Secretary’s Office, Mallam Buhari Mika’il, on behalf of the Executive Secretary. During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor formally submitted three critical letters on behalf of the university. The first was an application for a Special High Impact Intervention Project (SHIP), the second was a request for security intervention at Northwest University Kano, while the third sought a special intervention for the provision of tricycles to ease students’ mobility within and outside the university campuses.

In his response, Mallam Buhari Mika’il assured the Vice-Chancellor of maximum cooperation, particularly with regard to the completion of the female students’ hostel, and further promised that the newly submitted requests would be assessed for viability and treated with prompt intervention. The Vice-Chancellor also followed up on the solarization of the university campuses, and TETFund officials assured her and her team that mobilization for the commencement of the projects would begin soon.

In a related development, Professor Bayero and her team held an audience with consultants who are expected to assist the university in several critical areas that will contribute to improved service delivery and the overall development of the university community.

The Vice-Chancellor also led her delegation to the National Universities Commission (NUC), where they paid a familiarization visit to the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, in his office. Professor Ribadu expressed his appreciation for the visit and informed the Vice-Chancellor that her letter of recognition as Vice-Chancellor had been received and duly circulated to all relevant organs of the NUC.

In another engagement during the week, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero paid a visit to the Chairman, Board of Trustees of TETFund, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, a former Governor of Katsina State and former Speaker of the National Assembly. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional support and explore avenues for sustained interventions that would further enhance the growth and development of Northwest University Kano.

These engagements, carried out since Monday, 12 January 2026, reflect the Vice-Chancellor’s proactive leadership and sustained drive toward making Northwest University Kano greater through strategic partnerships, infrastructural development, and improved student and staff welfare.
