Prof. Yasutoshi Kido of Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan visits ABU

Prof. Yasutoshi Kido of Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan has visited Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria during which he called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala.

 

Prof. Kido is collaborating with Department of Biochemistry and Africa Centre of Excellence on Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology (ACENTDFB).

 

Briefing the Vice-Chancellor on the purpose of his visit, Prof. Kido disclosed that  he has been in collaboration with Prof. Emmanuel Balogun of the Department of Biochemistry.

 

According to him, the collaboration has produced over 20 publications.

Prof. Kido he was pleased to invite the Vice-Chancellor for an international conference in Japan.

 

He said based on the collaboration, two postgraduate students of the Department of Biochemistry, who are on the verge of completing their M.Sc will be traveling to Japan for their PhD programme, fully funded by the Japanese Government.

 

Prof. Kido thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception, describing the gesture as best of its kind.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed Prof. Kido to the University and thanked him for maintaining the collaboration.

 

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof. Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the University holds international collaborations in a very high esteem.

 

The Vice-Chancellor noted that one of the cardinal objectives of the University is research, stressing that ABU is a research based University.

Prof. Bala noted that the Department of Biochemistry has many patented researches to their credit which he attributed to international collaborations.

 

The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to Prof. Kido for inviting him to the conference, hoping that the collaboration would be sustained.

 

The Vice-Chancellor was supported in receiving Prof. Kido by the Ag. Registrar, Dr. Aliyu D. Kankia; Representative of the Bursar, Malam Shehu Garba; Ag. University Librarian, Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Mohammed; and Director, Directorate of Research and Innovation, Prof. J.J Maina.
