The Vice-Chancellor of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), Professor Abdurrasheed Garba, on Wednesday, 11th March 2026, led a powerful entourage on a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, in her office.
The visit, which took place at the Vice-Chancellor’s office of the university, was aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship between the two institutions and congratulating Professor Amina Salihi Bayero on her leadership of the university.
Speaking during the visit, Professor Abdurrasheed Garba described the engagement as a solidarity and appreciation visit in recognition of the strong relationship that exists between the two universities. He noted that beyond the institutional ties, he also considers himself part of Northwest University Kano, having served as a sabbatical staff member of the institution.
According to him, the delegation was also at the university to formally inform and invite the management of Northwest University Kano to an upcoming Colloquium being organized by KHAIRUN.
Professor Garba explained that the event is part of the university’s academic initiatives aimed at promoting scholarship and innovation, particularly in the fields of science, technology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which align with the science-driven mandate of the university.
He briefly introduced the core mandate and vision of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University to the management of Northwest University Kano, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to advancing scientific research, technological development and academic excellence.
As part of the collaboration, the KHAIRUN Vice-Chancellor requested that Northwest University Kano nominate a representative who will participate in the forthcoming Colloquium.
In her response, the Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, expressed profound appreciation for the visit, describing Professor Abdurrasheed Garba as a brother, colleague and friend of the university who has contributed significantly to its growth and development.
She noted that the visit was a special one and commended the entourage for taking time to strengthen the bond between the two institutions.
Professor Bayero also briefly highlighted the history and development of Northwest University Kano, explaining that since assuming office as Vice-Chancellor, she has been fully engaged in numerous commitments aimed at repositioning the university and advancing its academic and infrastructural growth.
She emphasized that there are several opportunities for collaboration between the two universities, particularly in academic development, research and institutional partnerships.
She also expressed gratitude to the delegation for the prayers and goodwill extended to her as she continues to lead the university.
Meanwhile, on the same occasion, another delegation from the national body of KWA Old Girls Association who paid a visit to the Vice-Chancellor in her office.
The delegation, led by Hajiya Jamila Musa Aminu, said their visit was to offer prayers and moral support to Professor Amina Salihi Bayero for a successful tenure as Vice-Chancellor and for the strength and wisdom required in leading the institution.
In her response, Professor Bayero warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed deep appreciation to the members of the association for their visit, prayers and continued support, noting that she remains proud to be associated with them as one of their own.
The two visits highlighted the growing goodwill and support surrounding the leadership of Northwest University Kano, as well as the increasing prospects for collaboration between tertiary institutions within Kano State.
