Following the successful delivery of his Inaugural Lecture at the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman has issued a formal statement of appreciation to the academic community, government officials, and traditional leadership.

Professor Usman, who serves as the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, described the event as a "collective triumph" of scholarship and institutional collaboration.

The lecture was distinguished by the attendance of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Elder Joel Oyibo. Professor Usman noted that the Governor’s support highlights the vital link between governance and the academic sector in Kogi State.

In a deeply personal reflection, Professor Usman credited his academic foundation to his supervisors and mentors, including:

Professor Hassan Isah, former Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University.

Professors Lucky Ovwasa and Shaibu Ibrahim, his M.Sc. and PhD supervisors.

Professor Hassan Salihu, President of the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA).

The Rector also acknowledged the presence of eminent traditional rulers from across Kogi State’s three senatorial districts, stating that their attendance symbolized the bond between intellectual progress and communal values.

The event drew a massive turnout of state officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, as well as heads of sister tertiary institutions. Professor Usman particularly lauded the staff and students of Kogi State Polytechnic for their unwavering solidarity and institutional pride during the process.
