World Breastfeeding Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the vital role breastfeeding plays in providing children with a healthy and sustainable start in life.
The annual observance also highlights the importance of strengthening proven practices and support systems that enable mothers and families to make breastfeeding a successful part of early childhood care.

The Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Prof. Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, said the university remains committed to initiatives that promote healthier families, informed communities and a sustainable start in life for children.
Anchored by the Department of Nursing Sciences, the celebration demonstrated the university’s support for health professionals, families, communities and institutions around the world in promoting greater awareness and support for breastfeeding.
Redeemer’s University recognises breastfeeding as an important foundation for infant and child well-being and encourages continued conversations and actions that support breastfeeding.
