Redeemer’s University Scholar, Dr. Timilehin Shaba, Clinches National Best PhD Thesis Prize

The management of Redeemer’s University has celebrated a monumental academic milestone as one of its faculty members, Dr. Timilehin Gideon Shaba, emerged as the winner of the prestigious Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (NSPS) PhD Thesis Prize 2025. 

Beyond winning the category for Mathematics and Statistics, Dr. Shaba secured the ultimate distinction: the Overall Best NSPS PhD Thesis Prize across all physical science disciplines.

The formal presentation took place on February 10, 2026, during the annual NSPS Conference hosted at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. The Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, hailed the achievement as a reflection of the institution's rigorous research culture. 

"We are incredibly proud of Dr. Shaba. His success is a testament to the excellence we embody," Prof. Akindele stated, adding that the honor brings significant prestige to the university’s Department of Mathematics.

A Comprehensive Reward for Excellence

In recognition of his groundbreaking research, Dr. Shaba was presented with a high-value prize package, which includes:

Financial Award: A ₦550,000 cash prize.

Professional Status: Conferred as a Life Member of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (LNSPS).

Research Grants: Full Article Processing Charge (APC) waivers for one publication per year in any NSPS journal for the next three years.

Career Support: Full sponsorship for the 2027 NSPS Conference.
