KWASU Vice-Chancellor Urges Discipline as University Welcomes Freshmen at 16th Orientation Ceremony
The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has officially welcomed the newest cohort of undergraduates, charging them to uphold the institution’s core values of discipline and academic rigor.
The charge was delivered during the university’s 16th Orientation Ceremony held on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Representing the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba, emphasized that the orientation serves as a critical roadmap for students to navigate the university’s rules and expectations.
Key Highlights of the Ceremony:
Adherence to Regulations: Students were urged to make responsible choices and strictly respect the university's code of conduct to ensure a hitch-free academic journey.
Student Support Services: The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Sulaiman Sheu Adua, encouraged the matriculants to utilize available welfare and counseling services, noting that the unit remains fully accessible to support their mental and physical wellbeing.
Peaceful Coexistence: The Dean further stressed the importance of responsible conduct both on and off campus, advocating for harmony within the host communities.
In a move to ensure all students are properly integrated, the university adopted a decentralized approach. Following the main event in Malete, a separate orientation exercise was conducted for fresh students at the Osi Campus on Friday, February 13, 2026.
This 16th orientation marks a significant milestone as KWASU continues to expand its footprint across Kwara State, fostering an environment where academic excellence and character development go hand-in-hand.
