The Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, will on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, host its 120th Inaugural Lecture under the distinguished leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi.

The lecture, titled “The Silent Cry of Mother Earth: A Wake-Up Call to Geotechnical Engineering Practice in Infrastructure Development,” will be delivered by Engr. Professor Scott Bernard Akpila, a renowned scholar and Professor of Geotechnical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering.

According to the official announcement, the event will hold at the Dr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Senate Building of the university. It is scheduled to commence at 2:00 PM.

The lecture is expected to shed light on the critical role of geotechnical engineering in addressing environmental degradation and ensuring sustainable infrastructure development in Nigeria and beyond.
