The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Choba, Rivers State, will on Thursday, October 9, 2025, hold its 203rd Inaugural Lecture Series, under the distinguished leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill.
The lecture, titled “Waste to Wealth: The Technological Microbiology Way,” will be delivered by Professor Obioma Kenechukwu Agwa, a Professor of Environmental and Industrial Microbiology from the Faculty of Science, University of Port Harcourt.
According to the university’s announcement, the event will take place at the CBN Hall, Centre of Excellence, UNIPORT, by 3:00 PM.
Professor Agwa’s lecture will explore how technological microbiology can be applied in the conversion of waste materials into valuable products — a concept vital to sustainable development, environmental conservation, and the circular economy. Her presentation is expected to highlight practical innovations in microbial biotechnology and how science-driven waste management can contribute to national growth and industrial progress.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, on behalf of the Senate, Staff, and Students, extended an open invitation to members of the university community, researchers, students, policymakers, and the general public to attend the event.
