SAZU Vice Chancellor Hosts Education Commissioner; Prioritizes Campus Security During Familiarization Tour

The Vice Chancellor of Sa'adu Zungur University Professor Fatimah Tahir, has today received the Honorable Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration Hajiya Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango at Yuli Campus of the University on a familiarization tour.

Professor Tahir expressed gratitude to the commissioner for the visit, pointing out that it is another opportunity for the university to appreciate the state government's efforts in providing the institution with all the resources needed for the smooth operation, aimed at ensuring academic excellence.

The VC also said on the other hand, the visit serves as an avenue for bringing out, and tabling some of the needs of the institution to the ministry, for onward submission to the state government.

Prof. Tahir pointed out that one of the basic and urgent need of the university is provision of adequate security, particularly to the female hostels at both Gadau main campus and Yuli campus, adding that the management is already trying to make arrangement with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, to get some female personnel that will be staying with the school's security at night, around the female hostel.

Responding, the Honorable Commissioner Ministry for Higher Education and Regional Integration Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar Kango, commended the Vice Chancellor and the management for the good effort especially towards showing concerns on the security issues.

The Commmissioner said the visit is part of her plans to interact with the university's head and the management, which she says makes a very good sense of her to be able to understand what the institution is going through, which at the end will bring out a workable solution.

She therefore promissed that this issue of security challenge, will surely be taken care of especially as the VC has already initiated a bold step towards collaborating with the NSCDC, which the commissioner said is an impressive one.

"It is not everything that the government can do for you, you have to put effort, start it, then government will now push it for you. And what you did is a very good one," the commissioner said.

The commissioner revealed his Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Executive governor of Bauchi has alredy taken note of that and has a very good intention of providing adeqaute security to all the tertiary institutions in the state.

The commissioner was yesterday at the Gadau main campus, university on a similar visit, where she was received by Deputy Vice Chancellors; DVC Academic, Professor Bala M. Abdulhamid, along with DVC Admin, Professor Aminu Umar Kura among other principal officers. She also visited Musau Campus of the University. 

During the visit at Yuli campus, principal officers of the University present include the Registrar Dr. A. G. Hassan PhD, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Inuwa Galoji, Director Human Resource and Career Development Dr. Wasilu Suleiman, Director Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Centre for Peace and Security Studies Dr. Yusuf Musa Yahaya, and Professor Wunti.
