Student Loan Has No Political Bias — NELFUND Boss

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, has debunked claims of political bias in Nigeria’s student loan scheme, emphasizing that the process is transparent and technology-driven.

Sawyerr stated that the loan application and disbursement process is fully electronic and based on objective criteria, designed to ensure fairness and equal access for eligible students across the country.

He noted that the system does not consider political affiliation, ethnicity, or other sentiments in approving applications, stressing that merit and compliance with the requirements are the only determinants.

According to him, the digital platform was introduced to eliminate human interference, reduce delays, and promote accountability in the management of the student loan scheme.

NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to supporting indigent students in tertiary institutions by providing access to affordable education financing without discrimination.
