University of Ibadan has commended two students from its Department of Estate Management for their outstanding performance at a national quiz competition organised by the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor, Kayode O. Adebowale, gave the commendation while receiving a delegation from the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management led by the Dean, A. M. Alabi, alongside the student representatives who presented the award won at the competition.

Professor Adebowale described the achievement as a reflection of the university’s longstanding tradition of excellence, noting that the students had upheld the core values upon which the institution was founded.

He stated that the University of Ibadan’s reputation as a leading academic institution in Nigeria is sustained through continuous excellence built on the legacy of its founding vision.

The Vice-Chancellor praised the students as worthy ambassadors of the university and encouraged them to maintain their commitment to academic and professional excellence.

He also commended the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management for its steady progress and strong performance in accreditation processes, describing it as impressive for a relatively young faculty.

In recognition of their achievement, Professor Adebowale announced a personal cash reward for the two students in addition to the ₦500,000 prize they received for emerging winners of the competition.

The Acting Head of Department of Estate Management, Abiodun Jogunola, explained that the competition was part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria.

He noted that the contest involved Estate Management departments from universities and polytechnics nationwide, beginning at the regional level where the University of Ibadan placed second before qualifying to represent the South-West at the national stage.

According to him, the UI team eventually emerged overall winner at the national level, earning a certificate, plaque, and cash prize in recognition of their performance.

The winning students were identified as Ani John Godwin and Daramfon Umoh, who represented the institution throughout the competition.

University officials described the victory as a reaffirmation of UI’s academic strength and competitive edge in professional disciplines at the national level.
