UNIDEL Embraces Digital Future, Trains Staff on Hybrid Learning

In a bold move aimed at safeguarding academic activities against future disruptions and positioning itself at the forefront of digital education, the University of Delta, UNIDEL, Agbor, has commenced an intensive training programme on hybrid learning for its staff.

The two-day "Train-the-Trainer" workshop, which began on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the ultra-modern Zenith ICT Centre in the University's main campus, is part of the Electronic Learning Interventions for Higher Education in Nigeria initiative sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, in collaboration with the University.

The initiative is widely seen as a strategic response to the painful lessons of the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought educational systems across the world to a standstill and exposed the vulnerability of institutions that lacked robust digital learning frameworks.

Speaking during the training session, one of the resource persons, Mr. Lawrence Edidiong, explained that the hybrid learning project was not conceived to replace conventional classroom teaching, but rather to complement it by equipping lecturers and administrative personnel with the skills required to sustain academic and administrative activities during emergencies and unforeseen disruptions.

According to him, the training sought to build the digital capacities of university staff, enabling them to effectively deploy technology-driven teaching and learning tools whenever circumstances make physical interactions difficult.

Participants for the workshop were drawn from various faculties, departments, and units of the university, with practical sessions focusing on virtual teaching methodologies, online assessment systems, digital content development, and the use of emerging educational technologies.
