UNIJOS and UJAA Global Confer Distinguished Alumni Award on Benue SSG, Barr. Serumun Deborah Aber

The management of University of Jos, in collaboration with the University of Jos Alumni Association (UJAA), has conferred the prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award on the Secretary to the Government of Benue State, Serumun Deborah Aber, in recognition of her outstanding service to humanity, exemplary leadership, and commitment to public service.

 The delegation was led by the Global President, Gad Peter Shamaki, alongside the Assistant Secretary-General, Terfa Tsetim.

The event attracted notable alumni and dignitaries, underscoring the association’s commitment to celebrating excellence among its members worldwide.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Shamaki described the awardee as “a shining example of the values and ideals that the University of Jos instills in its graduates.” He noted that the honour serves not only as recognition of past achievements but also as encouragement for continued impactful leadership.

Also present at the event were the Chairman of the UJAA Benue State Chapter, Godwin Ama Doki; the Chapter Secretary, Lubem Tiav; the Financial Secretary, Dooshima Flavianne Ella; as well as Prof. Shima Jighjigh and Dr. Oryina Orkar. They all commended the award recipient for her unwavering dedication to governance and community development.

In his goodwill message, Prof. Doki reiterated the association’s commitment to identifying and honouring alumni who have distinguished themselves across various fields of endeavour.

In her acceptance speech, Barrister Aber expressed deep appreciation to the association for the honour, noting that the recognition would further inspire her to continue serving with integrity and diligence. She also acknowledged the presence of staff from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Benue State who witnessed the occasion.

The UJAA delegation was formally introduced by Mr. Tsetim, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Benue State Chapter.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed call for alumni to remain connected to their alma mater and contribute meaningfully to national development.
