UNILAG Announces 453rd Inaugural Lecture as Professor Niemogha Explores Microbes and Health Biotechnology
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced that Professor Mary-Theresa Niemogha of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Faculty of Health Professions, College of Medicine, will deliver the institution’s 453rd Inaugural Lecture and the seventh in the 2025/2026 Academic Session.

The lecture, titled “Microbes Everywhere: How Safe Is Man? Resolution in the Realm of Microbes and Medicinal Plants in Health Biotechnology,” is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the J.F. Ade. Ajayi Auditorium, UNILAG, Akoka. Guests are expected to be seated by 3:45 p.m.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, will preside over the academic event, which forms part of the university’s longstanding inaugural lecture tradition aimed at showcasing scholarly contributions and advancing intellectual discourse.
Members of the university community and the general public have been invited to attend the lecture, which is expected to examine the role of microbes and medicinal plants within the evolving landscape of health biotechnology and public safety.
