UNILAG Cell Biology and Genetics Dept to Host Basic DNA & Molecular Biology Workshop
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Department of Cell Biology and Genetics will host its Annual Basic DNA and Molecular Biology Workshop from March 24 to 26, 2025, at the D.K. Olukoya Central Research and Reference Laboratory. The workshop will provide hands-on training in genomic DNA isolation, PCR techniques, sequencing, and other molecular biology processes

The Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, University of Lagos (UNILAG), is set to hold its Annual Basic DNA and Molecular Biology Workshop from Monday, March 24 to Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The intensive training session will take place daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the D.K. Olukoya Central Research and Reference Laboratory, UNILAG, Akoka.
The workshop will cover key aspects of molecular biology, including genomic DNA isolation and purification, DNA quantification, agarose gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid amplification techniques such as PCR, RT-PCR, and sequencing. Participants will also gain insights into primer design, PCR Master Mix components, and their functions.
Attendees will benefit from hands-on training in DNA extraction, DNA purity and integrity checks, animal handling, and pipetting skills. Additionally, each participant will receive a certificate upon completion and have the opportunity for one-on-one mentorship with experts in the field.
