The University of Lagos Business School (ULBS) hosted the maiden edition of its Quarterly Business Seminar on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Tayo Aderinokun Hall, University of Lagos (UNILAG). The event, themed Strategic Leadership and Wealth of Nations: The Nexus, featured renowned thought leaders Dr. Tunde Bakare and Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, who provided key recommendations for improving leadership in Nigeria.

The seminar emphasized the urgent need to redefine Nigeria’s leadership recruitment process, strengthen institutions, and critically examine the nation’s leadership structure.

Dr. Tunde Bakare, General Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church and a 1980 UNILAG Law alumnus, traced Nigeria’s leadership trajectory from precolonial times to the post-colonial era. He highlighted the persistent challenges in governance despite the country’s vast natural and human resources. Dr. Bakare described Nigeria’s leadership history as abysmally poor, citing the detrimental impact of ineffective leadership on national development.
