UNILAG students from the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS) made a significant impact at the PANS National Convention held at the University of Ilorin in October 2024.

UNILAG Students Excel at PANS National Convention, Bring Home Multiple Awards

Students of the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS), University of Lagos (UNILAG) Branch, have made an impressive mark at the recently concluded PANS National Convention held at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, from October 6 to 12, 2024.

The convention, themed “PULSE ’24”, was a vibrant mix of educational activities, entertainment, and networking. With a diverse range of events, including dance, debate, sporting competitions, and more, the PANS-UNILAG delegates stood out and clinched several prestigious accolades, highlighting their dedication and talent.

Among their major achievements were the duo of Echezona Momah and Abdulqudus Agbaraojo, who emerged as the National Winners of the highly competitive 4th Annual PharmaNews Debate competition. Additionally, PANS-UNILAG secured the National Basketball Championship title, showcasing their strength and teamwork. The delegates also excelled in athletics, bringing home five medals, and secured third place in the dance competition.

In recognition of their outstanding contributions, Agbede Nifesimi, the PANS-UNILAG President, and Green Esther, the National Deputy Chief-in-Editor for Zone A, were conferred with an Award of Service. Green Esther was also appointed the National Vice Chairperson (Political Advocacy and Stakeholders Engagement) for PANS National, further solidifying the university's impact on the national stage.

A remarkable highlight was the election of Echezona Momah as the National Assistant Secretary General of PANS at the Annual General Meeting, a testament to the respect and leadership qualities displayed by the UNILAG student.

Further adding to their accolades, Rufai Gabriel, the former Coordinator of the Anti-Drug Misuse and Abuse Programme (ADMAP) at PANS-UNILAG and current NHS Chairman, was appointed the National Chairperson of ADMAP, continuing the legacy of UNILAG’s active involvement in shaping the future of pharmacy in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, congratulated the PANS-UNILAG delegation for their exceptional achievements and praised their efforts in bringing pride to the university.

This remarkable performance at the PANS National Convention further underscores UNILAG’s reputation for academic excellence and student leadership
