UNILORIN to Host Valedictory Lecture in Honor of Professor Kolade Ayorinde
The University of Ilorin will celebrate Professor Kolade Luke Ayorinde's distinguished 37-year career with a valedictory lecture and special publication on September 17, 2024.
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) will host a valedictory lecture in honor of Professor Kolade Luke Ayorinde, a renowned animal scientist and pioneer guinea fowl breeder in Nigeria, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The event will take place at the University Auditorium, where a special publication will also be presented to celebrate his remarkable career spanning over 37 years.
Professor Ayorinde, who joined UNILORIN in 1987 as a Lecturer II in the Department of Animal Production, Faculty of Agriculture, rose to the rank of full Professor in October 1995 at the impressive age of 41. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to animal breeding and genetics, inspiring both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Among his mentees, 12 have gone on to become professors in various universities.
In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Ayorinde has held several prestigious positions, including Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) at UNILORIN, Vice-Chancellor of KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, and the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Oko, Kwara State. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Animal Production (FNSAP) and the Corporate Administration Institute of Nigeria (FCAIN).
