UNILORIN VC Mourns Former President Muhammadu Buhari

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has paid tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who passed away on July 13, 2025, in London.

Prof. Egbewole described the former President's death as the end of a remarkable era, highlighting his significant contributions to national development.

According to Prof. Egbewole, the late former President was a believer in Nigeria's greatness, exemplified by his consistent offers of service and his unwavering commitment to the country's progress. He noted that the former President's tenures in various leadership positions were marked by unique dispositions to leadership and positive impact.

A former Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR, also paid tribute to the late former President, recalling his magnanimity to the University. He remembered that the former President, as the Executive Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, allocated three brand new buses to the institution to address transportation challenges faced by students.

The University community has commiserated with the President, the family, and friends of the late former President, as well as the government and people of Katsina State. Prof. Egbewole prayed for the soul of the departed leader to rest in eternal peace and for his family and colleagues to bear his loss with fortitude.
