UNIMAID Celebrates International Secretaries Day as Registrar Pledges Support for Welfare and Training
The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) branch of the Chartered Institute of Professional Secretarial Staff of Nigeria (CIPSSON) joined the global community on April 22, 2026, to mark International Secretaries Day. The event was highlighted by a vibrant rally and a commitment from the university management to prioritize staff welfare and professional growth.
The celebration began with a procession from the Bursary Department, concluding at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building, where the administrative backbone of the university was honoured for their service.
The Registrar of UNIMAID, Ahmad Alhaji Lawan, lauded the association for its unwavering dedication to the university's operations. Represented by the Deputy Registrar (Junior Staff Human Resources), Mr. Markus Dauda, the Registrar urged members to stay proactive in their professional development by applying early for workshops and conferences.
In a significant update regarding welfare, Mr. Dauda announced that the implementation of hazard allowances for secretarial staff has been formally moved to the Bursary Department for action.

The President of the Association, Musa Ibrahim, reaffirmed CIPSSON’s mission to uphold integrity, proficiency, and loyalty within the profession. He emphasized that the body remains focused on creating avenues for continuous learning to keep pace with modern administrative demands.
A key highlight of the day was the presentation of an award to Mrs. Ladi Charles. Recognized as the most dedicated and hardworking leader among past and present executives, she received the honour from the Registrar in recognition of her distinguished service to the institute and the university.
