History Made at ACU as Vice-Chancellor Commissions New Law Clinic
The Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Faculty of Law at Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) reached a transformative milestone with the official commissioning of the ACU Law Clinic. The facility is set to serve as a vital bridge between legal theory and community service for students and residents of Oyo and its environs.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebunoluwa Oduwole, who attended the ceremony in full legal attire as a mark of respect for the profession, described the day as a historic achievement for the institution.

In her keynote address, Professor Oduwole emphasized that the clinic is designed to function optimally across the region, providing students with a platform to develop hands-on experience while upholding the highest ethical standards. She urged the law students to make confidentiality, objectivity, and professionalism their guiding principles.
"We are happy we are making history today," she noted, while also expressing gratitude to the Faculty Dean, Professor Olanrewaju Onadeko, SAN, and the Law Clinic Committee led by Professor Ayodeji Agbonjimi for their vision in establishing the clinic.
Professor Onadeko, a former Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, highlighted the clinic's dual purpose:
Practical Training: Providing students with real-world legal scenarios.
Access to Justice: Offering free and low-cost legal services to ACU staff and the local community.
He further revealed that the faculty plans to launch sensitisation campaigns throughout Oyo to address topical legal issues and promote legal reform.
Representing the student body, 400-level student Ayanfeoluwa Samuel noted that the clinic marks a significant transition for students as they begin offering pro bono services. Following the ribbon-cutting, the Vice-Chancellor toured the facility, which included a live demonstration of legal consultation procedures.
