FUGA Receives NUC Resource Verification Team for 11 New Programmes

The Federal University Gashua, FUGA, has received a Resource Verification Team from the National Universities Commission, NUC, to assess the university’s readiness and available resources for the introduction of 11 new academic programmes.

The team, led by Professor Yusuf Maiwada Bashir, was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, and other members of the university management at the institution on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Welcoming the team, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation for their commitment and sacrifice in undertaking the assignment, noting that their visit demonstrated dedication to the development of the university system.

Professor Geidam described their sacrifice as evidence of the commitment required to carry out such responsibilities effectively. He assured the team that the university would provide a transparent and conducive environment for them to carry out their assignment, stressing that management was ready to accept their observations, suggestions and contributions aimed at improving the institution.

The programmes scheduled for resource verification are Biotechnology; Banking and Finance; Taxation; Procurement Management; Entrepreneurship Studies; Security and Investment Studies; Development Studies; Cyber Security; Information and Communication Technology; Software Engineering; and Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies.

The exercise is expected to provide an assessment of the university’s human, physical, infrastructural and other resources required for the successful implementation of the programmes.
