UNIMAID Set to Host 44th Matriculation Ceremony for New Intakes
The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has officially announced that its 44th Matriculation Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The event marks the formal admission of fresh students into the institution for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a circular issued by the Admissions Office and signed by the Deputy Registrar (Admissions), Dr. E. A. Felix, the ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM prompt at the University's Convocation Square. All members of staff, students, and the general public are cordially invited to witness this academic rite of passage.
University management has emphasized that attendance is compulsory for all newly admitted students. To facilitate participation, matriculants are expected to follow these guidelines:
Collection of Gowns: Academic gowns will be available for collection through respective College or Faculty Officers starting Thursday, March 5, 2026, at no cost.
Return Deadline: All rented gowns must be returned latest by Friday, March 13, 2026.
Penalties: Students are cautioned that those who lose or damage their gowns will be required to pay the full replacement cost as determined by the University Bursar.
The official programme of events indicates a structured timeline to ensure a smooth transition into the university community:
07:00 AM: Matriculating students begin assembling for the formal procession.
09:45 AM: The academic procession enters the arena.
10:00 AM: Formal opening of the ceremony by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele.
10:45 AM: Administration of the Matriculation Oath by the Registrar.
The ceremony is expected to conclude by 11:00 AM, after which matriculated students will sign the official Matriculation Register.
