The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has assured the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA), UNIMAID Chapel, of his commitment to addressing their demands, including the provision of additional office space for union members.

The assurance came during a courtesy visit by the CONUA UNIMAID Chapel leadership to the Vice-Chancellor on 9th February 2026 at his office in the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building.

The Vice-Chancellor further assured the delegation that all requests would be given due consideration and pledged continuous support to enhance the union’s operations and recognition within the university.
Earlier in the meeting, Professor Mohammad Fannami, Chairperson of CONUA, congratulated Professor Mele on his recent assumption of office, commending his leadership, dedication, and hard work. He appealed for support in advancing the union’s visibility and institutional recognition at UNIMAID.
