The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) will commence the demolition of illegal structures across its three campuses on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The exercise is being carried out in line with a directive issued by the University Governing Council.
The university said notices previously issued to owners and occupants of the affected structures, directing them to remove their belongings and vacate the premises, had expired.
According to the university, additional time was subsequently granted to provide those affected with further opportunity to comply with the directive.

The university has therefore reminded all owners and occupants of illegal structures to take note of the commencement date and comply with the directive accordingly.
Members of the university community and other concerned persons have also been urged to cooperate with the relevant university authorities to ensure that the demolition exercise is carried out smoothly and in an orderly manner.
