UNIUYO FAMSSA Issues Urgent Alert on WhatsApp Scam Targeting Students

The Faculty of Management Sciences Students Association (FAMSSA) at the University of Uyo has issued an urgent security warning after reports of an ongoing WhatsApp scam targeting students.

According to the Directorate of Information of FAMSSA, fraudsters are impersonating faculty officials and contacting students under the guise of inviting them to an “official meeting.” During these calls, scammers request WhatsApp verification codes, which could allow them to gain unauthorized access to students’ accounts.

The association stressed that FAMSSA officials will never ask for verification codes, OTPs, or personal passwords under any circumstances. Students are advised to rely solely on official communication channels, including verified departmental platforms and recognized student groups, for authentic information.

Students are encouraged to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of all communications claiming to be from FAMSSA.
