University of Abuja Senate Passes Vote of Confidence in Governing Council

The Senate of the University of Abuja has unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the institution's Governing Council, led by AVM Sadiq Isma’ila Kaita.

This endorsement is a testament to the council's successful and transparent conduct of the Vice Chancellor's selection process, which resulted in the appointment of Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi.

During its 187th Regular Meeting, the Senate also approved several key resolutions, including the adoption of a revised academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session and the scheduling of the next convocation ceremony. Additionally, Professor Abubakar Sadeeque Abba was elected as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

The Senate congratulated Professor Maikudi on her appointment and pledged its full support and cooperation in advancing the university's vision and mission under her leadership.

 

In a related development, the Senate condemned the actions of certain individuals who have sought to tarnish the university's reputation through the dissemination of falsehoods and blackmail. The Senate urged the university's management to take disciplinary actions against those engaging in misconduct or illegality.
