University of Maiduguri Matriculates 8,504 Students for 2024/2025 Academic Session

The University of Maiduguri has officially welcomed 8,504 new students to its 100 and 200-level degree programs for the 2024/2025 academic session. The matriculation ceremony was held on March 10, 2025, at the university's Convocation Square.
Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, the Vice-Chancellor, announced that the admissions were conducted through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Direct Entry, and placements from the university's Remedial Arts and Science programs.
The newly admitted students are distributed across various faculties. The College of Medical Sciences has 585 students, while the Faculty of Agriculture has 234 students. The Faculty of Arts has 254 students, and the Faculty of Education has 1,350 students.
Other faculties and their student numbers include Faculty of Engineering with 834 students, Faculty of Environmental Studies with 82 students, Faculty of Law with 113 students, and Faculty of Life Sciences with 1,494 students.
The Faculty of Management Sciences has 1,100 students, Faculty of Pharmacy has 239 students, Faculty of Physical Sciences has 1,345 students, Faculty of Social Sciences has 754 students, and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has 120 students.
Professor Mele emphasized the significance of matriculation as the beginning of the students' academic journey. He expressed hope that the students will successfully complete their studies and graduate triumphantly.
The Vice-Chancellor urged the students to abide by the university's rules and regulations and avoid social vices. The oath-taking session was led by the university's Registrar, Mallam Ahmed Lawan.
