University of Port Harcourt Confers Honorary Doctorate Degree on Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari

The University of Port Harcourt has conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Doctor of Science in Public Administration (DSc Honoris Causa) on Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and former Governor of Katsina State.

The award recognizes Masari's outstanding contributions to public service, national development, and educational advancement in Nigeria. His exemplary leadership as Governor of Katsina State and strategic role in repositioning TETFund to enhance the quality of tertiary education across Nigeria were also acknowledged .

The conferment took place during the University's 35th Convocation Ceremony, marking its 50th Anniversary.

 Distinguished personalities, members of the academic community, and stakeholders from across the country attended the ceremony.

Masari delivered a thought-provoking convocation lecture titled "The Role of Universities in Nation-Building," emphasizing universities' critical importance as centers of knowledge creation, research, and innovation .

Universities must serve as catalysts for economic growth, good governance, and societal transformation.

Stronger partnerships between universities, government, and the private sector are necessary to produce graduates with practical skills to drive national development.
