The inauguration ceremony, held on April 10, 2026, featured senior university officials, stakeholders, and invited guests, with discussions centered on strategic growth, leadership, and long-term institutional planning.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, outlined key achievements recorded under his administration, including the graduation of over 600 students within a short period. He noted that UNIZIK is steadily gaining increased recognition as one of the most sought-after universities in Nigeria, driven by deliberate reforms and strategic positioning.
Professor Anyaehie explained that the establishment of the Advancement Management Board was among his early strategic decisions upon assuming office. According to him, the initiative, which began as a conceptual framework, has now been fully institutionalized with the support of staff and stakeholders, reflecting a structured approach to university advancement.
He emphasized that sustained institutional success depends on strategic alignment, noting that universities must adopt deliberate planning mechanisms to remain competitive in an evolving academic landscape.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence in the leadership of the newly appointed Board Chairman, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu, stating that the board is well-positioned to drive the university’s advancement agenda and deliver measurable outcomes in institutional growth and development.

In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Uzochukwu described his appointment as a call to service grounded in merit and responsibility. He stressed that institutional transformation is dependent on purposeful leadership, clear vision, and collective commitment, adding that great universities are built through intentional and sustained effort.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, Olugbenga Agboola, commended the university’s progress and reaffirmed his support for its continued development. He described UNIZIK as a leading institution with a growing impact across academic and developmental sectors.
The Registrar of the university, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke, expressed appreciation to guests and congratulated members of the newly inaugurated board. She reaffirmed UNIZIK’s position as a leading institution in Africa and expressed optimism that the board will play a pivotal role in advancing the university’s vision.
