Nnamdi Azikiwe University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chaudhary Devi Lal University to strengthen cooperation in teaching, learning, research, and institutional development.

The agreement was formalised during a live online ceremony that brought together senior academic leaders from both institutions, marking a strategic step toward expanding global academic partnerships and fostering international collaboration.

The partnership covers joint academic programmes, research collaboration, student and staff exchange initiatives, educational resource sharing, and other forms of institutional cooperation aimed at enhancing educational quality and global engagement.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, highlighted the university’s academic strengths and expressed confidence that the partnership would enhance staff development, research output, and institutional growth.

He noted that the collaboration presents significant opportunities for academic advancement and international visibility for both institutions.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Prof Vijay Kumar, provided an overview of the Indian institution and expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting the symbolic similarity between both universities being named after prominent statesmen.

He described the collaboration as mutually beneficial and pledged full institutional support to ensure its success.

The ceremony was facilitated by Prof Charles Nwadigwe, Director of International Collaboration and Linkages at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and Prof Anu Shukla, Dean of International Relations and Foreign Affairs at Chaudhary Devi Lal University.

Both Vice-Chancellors formally signed the agreement electronically during the virtual event, which was witnessed by academic and administrative staff from both institutions.

The collaboration was also credited to Dr Miriam Ngozi Alike of the Department of Philosophy, whose early engagement and academic connection with Prof Anu Shukla played a key role in initiating the partnership process.

The agreement is expected to strengthen academic exchange, promote joint research initiatives, and deepen international institutional linkages between Nigeria and India.
