Vice-Chancellor Charges UNIPORT Student Judiciary to Uphold Fairness

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Professor Owunari Georgewill, hosted the newly inaugurated Judicial Arm of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) at the Vice-Chancellor’s office on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. 

The judicial delegation was led by the Chief Judge of the SUG, Honorable Justice Dimkpa Noble Ka-Alenebari Lah, accompanied by other judges of the student court.

During the visit, Professor Georgewill congratulated the judicial officers on their successful election and subsequent inauguration. He emphasized the critical role of the student judiciary in maintaining order and harmony within the university community.

The Vice-Chancellor formally charged the judges to remain impartial and dedicated to the principle of fairness. "You must ensure that justice and equity are employed in all matters brought before you by your fellow students," Professor Georgewill stated, noting that a transparent judicial process is essential for a stable campus environment.

The Chief Judge, Justice Dimkpa, expressed the judiciary's commitment to upholding the SUG Constitution and ensuring that the rights of all students are protected during their tenure.

The meeting concluded with the Vice-Chancellor wishing the team a productive and successful term in office as they begin their legal oversight for the 2024/2025 academic session.
