Enugu State Police have arrested Emmanuel Gambo, a 200-level student of Material and Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), in connection with the shocking death of Deborah Sam‑Praise Ememem, a 22-year-old UNN student, whose decomposed body was discovered hidden under a bed in a hotel room in Obukpa, Nsukka.
On the night of June 14, 2025, Gambo checked into the Madoka/Obukpa hotel with Ememem around 9 p.m.
They reportedly had two rounds of consensual intercourse. During the second round, Ememem demanded an additional ₦15,000, extra on top of the ₦5,000 earlier agreed—sparking a dispute.
In the early hours of June 15, the disagreement escalated when the victim allegedly asked for more money. Gambo then strangled her to death, wrapped her body in a towel and curtain, and concealed it under the bed.
Discovery Praise Ememem decomposed body and Arrest of Emmanuel Gambo
On June 16, hotel staff noticed a foul odor emanating from the room and discovered Ememem’s decomposed body concealed beneath the bed.
After weeks of intelligence-driven investigation, police arrested him at his lodge on July 2, 2025. He confessed to the crime during interrogation.
