Joy Watson, a 22-year-old student, has achieved top honors at Virginia State University in the United States by graduating as the institution’s best student. She earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering Technology, showcasing outstanding academic prowess throughout her studies.

In addition to her academic achievements, Joy received a full scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree at Virginia State University, continuing her educational journey in Mathematics. Celebrating her success on LinkedIn, Joy reflected on her diverse campus involvement, which included serving as the 94th Miss Virginia State University.

During her tenure, Joy engaged in various extracurricular activities such as marching bands, student organizations, honor societies, internships, and community service. She highlighted her early involvement with the National Society of Black Engineers, where she leveraged the organization's network to enrich her academic experience.

Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, Joy remained committed to her responsibilities, even serving as a senator and later assuming the role of president for the organization upon its resumption. She recounted rebuilding the group from scratch and revitalizing its mission during her tenure.

Joy’s dedication extended beyond campus life; she also held the prestigious position of 2023 Miss National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame. Remarkably, she maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her undergraduate career, balancing her academic pursuits with extensive involvement in student leadership and community engagement.

Expressing gratitude to her supporters, Joy emphasized the importance of continued contributions to education through donations, resources, internships, and scholarships. Her future plans include completing her Master’s degree in Mathematics at Virginia State University on a fully funded 12-month program, followed by a pursuit of a PhD to become a professor.
