Sokoto State University Secures Full NUC Accreditation for All Undergraduate Programs

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation status to all 18 undergraduate degree programs submitted by Sokoto State University (SSU). This achievement was confirmed in a letter from the NUC, presented to the university's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bashir Garba, and signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Engr Abraham Chundusu.

The accredited programs include Computer Science, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Arabic, Hausa, History, Islamic Studies, Education Computer Science, Education Mathematics, Education Physics, Education Biology, and Education Chemistry.

In a statement, Zayyanu Shehu, the university’s Information Officer, noted that the full accreditation status underscores SSU's commitment to high academic standards and its ability to produce graduates capable of making significant contributions in their fields.

Professor Garba expressed gratitude to the NUC for the positive outcome and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining these standards. He emphasized that this accomplishment reflects SSU's dedication to academic excellence and its readiness to invest further in both accredited and upcoming programs.

Garba acknowledged the significant investment by the Sokoto State Government and the foundational support from the university’s founder, former governor Senator Dr. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko. He also recognized the contributions of development partners, particularly the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), which has supported the university in upgrading infrastructure and training staff.

The Vice-Chancellor praised the efforts of the State Ministry for Higher Education, university management, staff, students, and other stakeholders for their roles in achieving this milestone.
