LASU Announces 28th Convocation Ceremony Schedule for 2023/2024 Graduands
Lagos State University (LASU) has released the schedule for its 28th Convocation Ceremony, set to take place from April 3 to April 10, 2025. The event will feature a Convocation Press Conference, sports competitions, religious services, a cultural festival, and the Convocation Lecture.

Lagos State University (LASU) has officially announced the schedule for its 28th Convocation Ceremony, which will celebrate the achievements of the 2023/2024 academic session graduands. The event, set to take place from Thursday, April 3, to Thursday, April 10, 2025, will feature a series of activities designed to honor the graduating students and engage the university community.
According to a statement released by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, the convocation will include pre-ceremony events such as a Convocation Press Conference and a staff sports competition on April 3, 2025. This will be followed by religious services, cultural celebrations, and academic activities leading up to the formal graduation ceremonies.
Convocation Schedule
The convocation events will commence with a Special Jumat Service on Friday, April 4, at the University Mosque, followed by a Thanksgiving Service at the University Chapel on Sunday, April 6. On Monday, April 7, the university will hold its traditional Coconut Breaking and Cultural Festival at the Badagry Gate Entrance, symbolizing unity and academic success.
The much-anticipated Convocation Lecture is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, at the Buba Marwa Auditorium. This will be followed by the main convocation ceremonies, where academic degrees will be awarded. On Wednesday, April 9, the university will confer Diplomas, First Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, and Master’s Degrees, while Thursday, April 10, will be dedicated to the awarding of Doctorate Degrees (Ph.D.) and the conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees.
Important Notice to Graduands
Graduands have been urged to comply with the university’s guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful event. Key instructions include:
- Graduands must complete payment for the convocation package via the university’s payment portal at www.lasu.edu.ng/tsa/payment/default.php.
- Academic gowns must be returned by Friday, April 11, 2025, to avoid a fine of ₦500 per day for late returns. Loss or damage of gowns will attract a replacement fee of ₦30,000.
- Certificates will be available for collection immediately after the convocation ceremony, provided the academic gown is returned.
- First-degree recipients will switch their cap tassels from right to left when officially admitted as graduates by the Vice-Chancellor, while higher degree recipients will wear their caps with tassels on the left.
- Proper conduct is expected throughout the ceremony. Unauthorized movement and photography within the auditorium are strictly prohibited.
- Graduands must participate in the convocation procession and be seated by 9:00 a.m. daily. Parents and guests are expected to be seated by 8:30 a.m..
