FUNAAB Signs MoU with Teach for Nigeria to Enhance Quality Education

FUNAAB has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Teach for Nigeria (TfN) to strengthen education in Nigeria. The agreement includes recruitment campaigns, training programs, joint initiatives, and alumni engagement. FUNAAB’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, emphasized the university’s commitment to academic excellence, while TfN’s CEO, Mrs. Molade Adeniyi, highlighted the organization’s efforts in addressing education inequality.

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has solidified its commitment to quality education through a strategic partnership with Teach for Nigeria (TfN). The collaboration was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) following a high-level meeting held on March 24, 2025, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room.

The agreement covers key areas such as recruitment and awareness campaigns, in-person training institute programs, joint initiatives and events, as well as alumni engagement and career development opportunities.

Speaking at the event, FUNAAB’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, reaffirmed the university’s dedication to academic excellence and character development. He emphasized FUNAAB’s willingness to partner with organizations that share its vision of ensuring quality education for all.

The Programme Director of TfN, Miss Bosede Ogidan, outlined the organization’s mission to address education inequality by recruiting and training young graduates to serve as teachers in underserved schools. She lauded the contributions of FUNAAB alumni in the TfN Fellowship and stressed the need for a continuous pipeline of graduates to sustain the initiative.

Similarly, the CEO of TfN, Mrs. Molade Adeniyi, highlighted the organization’s impact over the past eight years, including the deployment of over 2,400 Fellows across four states and teacher training in more than 20 states. She emphasized that strategic partnerships like the one with FUNAAB were crucial in ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to quality education.

As part of the collaboration, FUNAAB will host a three-week intensive training program in August 2025, accommodating approximately 800 participants. According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, the university’s world-class facilities will be leveraged to provide a robust learning experience.
