The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has presented two additional fully equipped ambulances to the University Health Centre as part of efforts to enhance healthcare delivery and emergency response on campus.

The presentation, which took place today, February 2, 2026, was aimed at improving access to quality medical services for students and staff, particularly during examination periods when health-related emergencies are often heightened.

Speaking at the handover, Prof. Kehinde commended the Ag. Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Oluseyi Anjorin, and other health personnel for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to duty.

The Vice-Chancellor, charged all drivers and personnel to adhere strictly to laid-down operational guidelines and to handle the vehicles with utmost care and responsibility to ensure constant availability for genuine emergencies.

In his response, Dr. Anjorin expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for the timely provision of the additional ambulances. He disclosed that all drivers attached to the ambulance services have been adequately briefed and cautioned to maintain professionalism and comply strictly with safety and operational protocols.

Dr. Anjorin stated that the newly purchased ambulances would be deployed strictly for medical emergencies and official health-related assignments, saying that the Health Centre previously had two serviceable ambulances and that, with the new addition, the Centre now has a total of four ambulances, three of which are fully operational and ready to respond to emergencies within and outside the campus.

Highlighting the significance of the development, Dr. Anjorin noted that medical emergencies often increase during examination periods. According to records from the last examination session, the University Health Services managed about 12 referral cases, a situation that underscored the need for improved emergency medical support.

He commended the University Management for its proactive approach to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, emphasising that timely access to medical care remained critical to safeguarding the lives and well-being of students and staff.
