Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Labels N80,000 Hostel Fee Memo as Fake, Instructs Disregard

The institution has labeled the document as "FAKE" news intended to misinform parents, guardians, and students. The widely shared memo, dated December 29, 2025, falsely stated that the university management approved an N80,000 (Eighty Thousand Naira) fee for a full academic session (one year) and demanded immediate payment.

The Registrar’s Office confirmed that the official announcement on legitimate school fees and accommodation charges will be communicated through accredited university channels soon.

Resumption Date: Academic activities are still set to resume on Friday, January 2, 2026, as originally planned.

Current Hostel Fees: Verified information from official sources indicates that legitimate hostel fees vary by campus and type of accommodation, typically ranging from around N15,090 to N75,090 for clinical and postgraduate hostels, which differs significantly from the fake N80,000 figure.
