Emezue's ordeal began in January 2024 when he was abducted by hoodlums in Umuahia while refueling his vehicle. For eleven agonizing days, he endured threats on his life from his captors, who demanded compliance with their demands under the threat of death.

Throughout his captivity, Emezue leaned on his unwavering faith, bolstered by the support of his loved ones, colleagues at Abia State University, and members of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International. He specifically acknowledged the efforts of Governor Alex Otti and his administration in securing his release.

In a swift response to the crime, Governor Alex Otti announced the arrest of the principal suspect at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, as well as the apprehension of a second suspect in Port Harcourt.
