ABU Announces Honorary Degrees for Distinguished Individuals

Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, is set to bestow Honorary Degrees on three remarkable personalities during its upcoming 43rd Convocation Ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, 27th January 2024.

This decision has received the official approval of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Visitor to the University.

The distinguished honorees include the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Muhammadu Lawal Uwais, GCON; the late Wazirin Fika, Malam Adamu Mu'azzam Fika, GCON; and the former African Union Representative to the United Nations, Her Excellency, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao.

Justice Lawal Uwais will be conferred with the esteemed degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D) Honoris Causa, acknowledging his exceptional contributions to the Nigerian judiciary and international legal institutions. His illustrious career from 1964 to 2006 reflects a legacy of dedication and outstanding judicial service.

In a posthumous recognition, the late Adamu Fika is recommended for the degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) Honoris Causa, commemorating his significant impact on various facets of society.

Ambassador Chihombori-Quao, the former African Union Representative to the United Nations, is set to receive the degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) Honoris Causa in acknowledgment of her distinguished contributions to diplomacy and international relations.
