ABU Takes Delivery of CNG-Powered Tricycles to Ease Transportation Costs

ABU Takes Delivery of CNG-Powered Tricycles to Ease Transportation Costs

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria has taken delivery of 10 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tricycles under the Special Palliative Relief on University Transportation Project.

The tricycles aim to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on campus.

The university is expected to receive five CNG buses soon, which will further reduce transportation costs. A sensitization workshop was held to introduce the Project CNG-SPROUT, which will allow staff to convert their vehicles to run on CNG at a subsidized rate and provide employment opportunities for students trained in vehicle conversion techniques.

The project is set to be launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29, 2025. University officials and student leaders have expressed appreciation for the initiative, which aims to promote the adoption of CNG and reduce transportation costs.
