ABUSRC to train 600 students on entrepreneurship

The Students Representatives Council (SRC) of Ahmadu Bello University would train a total of 600 students of the institution on entrepreneurship, the Council President, Comrade Jibril Idris Kawuje, has disclosed. 

Kawuje, who disclosed this at the Students Representatives Council Entrepreneurship Summit 2023 at the weekend, described the summit as very significant because the topic for discussion at the conference would make great impact on the students lives after school. 

He assured his fellow students of the council’s commitment towards training a good number of students on different business-skills. 

The keynote speaker, Mallam Bashir Abubakar, MFR, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, appreciated the commitment of the Students Council for organizing the summit, saying that one could create wealth through entrepreneurship. 

He explained that the new world order today was what one could offer to add value to economic growth and development of the society through entrepreneurial skills.

He also stated that “We can only turn the economic fortunes of the Third World countries through a series of training of the youths on entrepreneurship. 

The Guest Speaker, Prof. Ahmad Bello Dogarawa, who spoke on ‘Entrepreneurship as a Catenate to Wealth’, described entrepreneurship as a powerful tool for wealth creation and achieving financial independence, which form the basis for economic growth and innovation. 

Prof. Dogarawa listed self-motivation and determination, independence, risk taking and management as well as self-accountability and responsiveness as key factors that lead to successful entrepreneurship.  

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, in his words of encouragement, assured the Students Representatives Council of the institution’s full support of the Management in this direction. 

Prof. Bala, who was represented by the Director, ABU International Centre of Excellence in Rural Finance and Entrepreneurship (ICERFE), Dr. Bashir Idris Bugaje, commended the effort of the students council in making the event a reality. 

Short presentations were made by some business ventures such as Golden Brick, ABU Microfinance Bank, bitgate, satsApp and Spotless.
